For my dad

I was thinking back to when I was little or at least a teenager, and the things I haven't thought of in a long time. I know my dad will remember most, if not all of these things.

War Games
The Last Starfighter
MacGyver
Knight Rider
Airwolf
Rambo
Stuffed Peppers
Pete's
Joyner's Supermarket
Medoc Mountain
Happy Little Trees
Cicadas
National Geographic
Camel Crickets (!)
Watching thunderstorms on the front porch
Newspaper route
Pool Hall cheeseburgers
Alice's Beauty Shop
Mr.Warren's cats
Mr. Wizard's World

  1. This is great, Karen! I'm sure your dad will have fond memories of everything on your list. We all need to make lists like this one periodically to keep from losing pieces of the puzzle. It can happen very easily as the years pass!

  2. That is so sweet PK - I know your Dad will remember all of them.

It made me think about my Dad [he is gone now] and I bet I could write a similar list. :)

    Dad's are the best.

  3. That is such a good idea for a post, PK! I expect it will bring memories back for your dad as well. My dad is no longer with me, but I have a store of memories that I hold on to. Perhaps I will make a list like this in one of my future posts. Hope you're having a relaxing weekend over there.

  4. Karen,
I love your list. Many on your list my dad would agree with. I miss him he has been gone 3 years now. From knowing your dad via his and your blog....I think you are both very blessed. Good people! Have a great day and God Bless:-)

  5. Yes I remember them all and sadly some of them are gone now but not forgotten. Thanks for the memories but best of all I remember that we shared them together.

  6. I haven't heard of some of these things... but the ones I do are great ones!

BTW I love your playlist... I never noticed it before but there are a lot of great songs on there :D

  7. I know some of the things on my list won't make sense to anyone but my dad. For example, "Pete's" was a little diner in my hometown that we loved. My dad taught me about cicadas, which are the insects that fill the air with chirping on those summer nights. They also shed their skin and leave a hollow shell behind. I was really interested in bugs when I was little.
Another thing I listed was Medoc Mountain, which was a state park about 45 minutes from where we lived. My dad and I used to get up early on Saturday mornings and hike the trails together. It was a lot of fun for me, even on the 4 mile Summit trail!
Jax: I just added the playlist today, so I will be adding more songs soon!
